“We are consciousness wrapped in atoms forged in ancient stars.”

I knew that this mornings’ class had powerful potential.  Out of the roaster and into the outdoor space of the woods.  Wind.  Rain in the forecast.

Today is the final new moon before the Solstice, on Sunday.

Tonight, the darkest night as we continue our inward spiral.  Can you hear the whisper?  The undercurrent which follows the natural flow of this inward spiral.

These last days are holy.  The pause, in the center of this spiral, sacred.

It is the quietest pulse of the year.

Can we release the old stories, the worn-out behaviors, the clutter that we do not want to carry with us as we move forward through this portal and into the new year?  How can I lighten my load, empty and create space for new possibilities, new stories?

A new moon is a powerful time to release what no longer serves us and to plant the seeds of our dreams and desires.  Focusing on what we do want to carry with us.  Imagining ourselves in a new way, this is the dream we hold.

It was unusually warm this morning.  I walked through the woods, protected from the wind that I heard in the tree tops.

I stepped into the yoga space, took off my shoes and socks.  As the wind blew, I allowed it to fill my lungs, ruffle my hair with its breath.  From one posture, into the next, I imagined myself, a force of nature.  One breath, then another, I turned on my music and sang out loud.  The sound of the wind drowning out my voice.  I was protected at the base of the trees.  So, I began.  Moving and singing. I let its power fill me with power, let its grace wash over me as I expanded.

I am a force of nature.

One with this wild place. It began to rain and the mist touched my skin.  Awake and alive in my own movement, blending with movement of the forest, it’s wild breath.  The whisper of the wind, louder now…

Let go! Let go! Let go!

I imagine the magic of a new moon, the spiralling in towards the solstice and back out towards the light, engaging a deep sense of connection.

Invigorated, the energetic vibration of this place and the practice moving up and down my spine.

Congratulations for making it through this slithering year of the snake!  This next year has the power of the horse, a year of momentum.

We are alive.  We are a force of nature.

“We are stars wrapped in skin – the light you are seeking has always been within.”
